Return To Ye Olde Barbershop

Well, it's your nickel!

The last two posts have been about me family ... most of what I've written has been about them 'cause I have little imagination and me family is what I know most about ... albeit less than I would like.

There's some humor, at least there's supposed to be some ... and probably a bit of exaggeration ... but I'm proud of my family and I hope it's a read that you found worthy of your time.

Like I said, it's your nickel ... comment on anything you like, but I hope too that you'll share some of your own special memories, your magic moments!

My wife, Miss Carol, was what I call a liberal conservative ... with a vast working knowledge of history, government and politics ... me too, sans any working knowledge.

"Ye Olde Barbershop" knows no bound ... from baseball to recipes to sharing memories, magic moments, and tall tales!

However, the last several posts, just prior to the two about me family, were devoted to what we call "Non-political Politics" ... starting with "Chamberlain's Hangover, back last August through "Good Government - Good Grief!" in February.

Don't let the titles fool you ... it's mostly about family too. Well, our forefathers ... mine, yours and at least two others.

I'm interested in your views on those things too, especially if you disagree with me!

What with the dollar being devalued like it is, a nickel isn't much so we hope you'll spend several of them here!

Enjoy!

A trip down memory lane for sure! Guess we all have similar stories but it's fun to read about ours. Those times, as good as they were, are gone, but there are more great times to come!

Thanks little Brother!

I'll Hold you to that!

Well, sometime after posting the story about your acumen as an angler, etalia, Microsoft invaded my machine, updated me software, and evidently destroyed the post ... don't know if that was before or after you visited the site.

And me with no recent backup!

What I've reconstructed is but a cheap imitation of the original ... but, I'll try to improve upon it over time.

I thought I had done something wrong ... couldn't be sure what had happened. That is, until a few hours ago ... seems that your wayward nephew had a similar experience ... woke up this morning ... had to reboot ... then found that about half of what he had previously downloaded was gone ... though his history showed everything had been successfully saved.

Different computers on the same wireless network ... our private LAN ... a detailed scan shows no evidence of Trojan Horse or virus activity.

Don't know why but when he told me that, not knowing of my problem, it was remindful of your answering 57 yards ... eerie.

As an aside, I realize that the "Bookie" Turner reference seems not to fit the timeline ... "Bookie" was Sheriff 1958-63, methinks ... then fire and police commissioner.

He actually did help me as I said ... but, in 1958-59. It was fun watching the station manager pretend not to notice or be concerned when Bookie was around.

Maybe it was taking license but I think I did use what little money actually changed hands to play the pinball machine in that service station ... it was the most convenient, being across from Miller's.

Bob,

You have an excellent memory of our childhood days growing up in our family with Mother and Daddy. I had forgotten some things but was happy to learn about other things about you as a boy growing up before I came along.

I hope others will share their stories with you about their family memories and how they remember the good times when life was a lot more simple in the fact that it didn't take so much to make one happy and we had time to spend with our family. We are all too busy these days and mom's and dad's don't have the time to spend with their children and the family is truly suffering.

Our nation is in great need of our prayers and we need to all pray that God will awaken us as a people to seek His will for our lives and once again bring the family back together in love and bring a smile back to the faces of the children because they have their mom's and dad's back spending quality time with their children. You did a great job with remembering our family and the fun that we all had.

Love,

Your sister....Lynda
